Kayleigh & Ryan \\ Maryculter House Hotel I really did feel like part of the family at this wedding as it was the third within the same circle! I laughed all day at Maryculter House Hotel and you can see Kayleigh and Ryan did too, particularly with their bridal party and during some of the most funny speeches I have heard.

I say to my brides and grooms to make the most of their time together on the couple shoot as it really is the only part of your day when it will just be the two of you (okay I tag along!). Kiss, snuggle, bosie, hold hands, just be in love and have fun - you'll see these love birds absolutely did!

Emma & Anthony \\ Norwood Hall Hotel Stunning, inside and out, this pair of love birds are! We hit it off straight away and Emma and I realised that we had actually crossed paths about 10 years previously through mutual friends - it's always such a small world!

When Anthony told me he and his best man were wearing suits, I'll admit I got a little bit too excited, in fact I may have done a mini round of applause in Cult of Coffee where we met to chat through their big day. Being Scottish through and through I should love a kilt, and I do, but change is sometimes good, variety is the spice of life, wouldn't you agree?

When we met for our pre-wed catch up I also learnt that Emma runs her own business called Native Sister (and has the prettiest Instagram grid to go with it). She and her friend Aimi sell and personalise the most beautiful, bespoke gift boxes, full of amazing treats for any occasion. Go take a look

But before you do, check out some of my favourites from Mr and Mrs Sharples big day:

Wreck The Dress \\ Balmedie Beach with Mrs & Mrs Marr I met these lovely ladies when they were guests at a wedding at Meldrum House earlier this year and they asked if I would be keen on doing a 'Wreck The Dress' shoot for them when the nicer weather came - it's fair to say I jumped at the chance. At this point it was February and snowing and based on the weather we have had this week we were so lucky to get a very sunny Sunday at Balmedie Beach to have a bit of fun.

From the get-go I was belly laughing with this pair, their 'entourage' of four friends (who were awesome helpers, bag carriers, smoke grenade lighters and paint chuckers) and their rescue dog Scobby, who is such a sweetie. No onlooker, steep sand dune, evening breeze or cold North Sea put these lovebirds off, they went for it! And like I say to all my couples, if you just go for it, be yourself, get caught up in each other, you will get the best results possible.

I think it is fair to say the girls were happy with their gallery of photos, I have chosen a few of my favourites to share below, as they left me this review on Facebook:

There are currently an estimated 1592 people in the world called Rhea, however there is only one Rhea who is perfect at what she does. My wife and I recently met her at a close friend's wedding; and if she didn't have any cameras you would have thought she was a guest. It was after that we asked Rhea is she could photograph our "wreck the dress" shoot. Rhea made us laugh continuously throughout the day and cry with happiness when we seen the outcome of the shoot. Not only did Rhea capture the essence of our love for each other, but the laughter had wrecking our dresses. This has been something we've been wanting to do since we got married. Viewing the photographs ByRhea gave us that butterfly feeling that we should have had viewing our own wedding photos. Rhea is amazing at what she does and there are not enough thank you's or recommendations we could give her. The memories made and shared on this day will last a lifetime. So much love for you Rhea and what you do, McKayla & Claire x

Any one else keen? After all, you only wear your dress once!

Rachel & Jordan \\ Banchory Lodge Hotel When I arrived the atmosphere was pretty chilled at the Cobblehaugh where the girls were getting ready, I am not sure the same could be said in the boys room (!), and it was a pleasure to be back with the Hamilton family again following Rachel's sister Sophie's wedding to Craig back in 2015. The sun was shining at Banchory Lodge and we could see from the window that the chairs were being moved outside for a stunning ceremony on the banks of the River Dee.

After the ceremony, this popular pair rallied their way through some family and friend group shots and thanks to possibly the most efficient bridal party ever (made up of police officers and lawyers), who had my list of group shots Rachel and Jordan had discussed with me, the models were good to go, one shot after another and we were soon away exploring the woods and down by the river. Rachel decided the best way to tackle the river bank was to kick her shoes off and have her train over her arm - that's my kind of girl! It was so worth it and they didn't even get their toes wet. All it took was a hop, skip and a jump and they were pretty much in the River Dee resulting in some stunning shots!

Having heard the Father of the Bride speak before I prepared myself for a roller coaster of emotions not only from the guests but from me! And I wasn't disappointed, all four speeches were awesome and ran seamlessly thanks to the MC, guest and brother-in-law, Craig Pike.

And the emotions weren't done there as Rachel's sister sang the first dance beautifully and was accompanied by the fab Velvet Noir.

Neema & Scott \\ Norwood Hall Hotel It's not every Sunday I get to be a part of an Indian/Scottish fusion wedding and this is one big day I will never forget! The outfits, the changing of outfits, the food, the laughs and a whole lot of love is what made up this massive celebration at Norwood Hall Hotel.

Neema and Scott are possibly the most crazy bride and groom I have ever met, up for absolutely anything and the more wild and funny the better they said. We had a double helping of everything and why not! Two bridal preps, two outfit reveals, two ceremonies (one conducted by an Indian priest and then the other by the lovely Lindsay, a local registrar), two meals (one of which was called a 'light lunch', I don't think I have been so full since Christmas Day), two photo sessions with the couple and climbed more than two hills during it which took me to places on the grounds of the hotel I have never been before. The icing on the cake had to be witnessing some super cool air guitar during the first dance.

The photos will tell you more about this amazing day and if you want to see it in action, check out the awesome highlights reel by Flat4D Media right here.

Rebekah & Gregg \\ Tamdhu Distillery People often ask what an engagement or pre-wedding shoot is and I always say they are two of the same. It is chance for you to get to know your photographer, get more comfortable being in front of the camera and an opportunity to hang out, kiss and hug your soon to be husband or wife. You will see how I work and you will be able to find out what looks best for your actual wedding photos. I always promise it will be fun and you will end up with some great photos, in your 'normal' clothes, to remind you of the days/weeks/months before you got married.

Here's a peek from Rebekah and Gregg's recent engagement session at Tamdhu Distillery, where Gregg works, along with some QUICK TIPS if you decide to do a shoot like this:

- somewhere that suits your style and/or means something to you

- a location that has lots of different backdrops to give you loads of photo opportunities

- I can help if you are stuck or you might want to go to your wedding venue if you have decided on one

- always worth checking if we need permission to use the land/property/grounds

- any time of year

- whatever season means more to you, it could be in the colourful leaves in the autumn, relaxing in summer grass and gardens or cuddling up in the chilly season

- as soon as you are engaged or nearer to your wedding date making it more like a practise run

- something that makes you feel good and is easy to move around in

- that suits your style so that you are you

- both be smart or both be casual so that you complement each other

- suitable for the location (wellies for the mud, boots for the snow, sandals for the beach)

- colour wise, go different, but complementary, you don’t want to match each other, but you do want to coordinate

- empty your pockets of wallets, phones and keys

- go all out and get it done professional, maybe tie it in with your trial for the wedding

- or do it yourself, that is great too, ensuring you are your beautiful self and happy with your look

- remember your lippy in case there is a lot of kissing!

- anything that is relevant to you both, it might be related to your wedding theme or to an activity you both enjoy (like a picnic, we can go for ice cream on the beach or bring your mountain bikes if it is your hobby)

- animals are absolutely welcome (again, always worth checking if we need permission/they are allowed)

- props are not a must, it can just be you and your other half having fun

- just be you, as a couple, hopelessly in love but not cheesy!

- try to pretend I am not there (easier said than done I know)

- walk, chat, laugh, kiss, cuddle and I will keep you right with some relaxed posing so we get the best light and pretty backdrops

- let me know in advance if there is anything to be aware of, like a particular favourite side, so I can keep this in mind

- make a day/night of it, call it a date and continue on for drinks and food afterwards, you'll be dressed to impress after all and I promise I won't tag along!

Sarah & John \\ Tufted Duck It was a pleasure to be back at the Tufted Duck again, the staff look after us so well and the food is delicious, both very important to a photographer on a wedding day!

It was also lovely to see another familiar face in Sarah's room when I turned up for bridal prep. Her sister Alice was the make up artist at the previous wedding I photographed and this week she was bridesmaid.

Sarah and John's little family are made up of their two cuties, Reece and Lucas who have taken over the roll of photos below. They were absolute stars and definitely gave us smiles and dance move to photograph all day.

After the ceremony and some family and friend groups shots we jumped in my car and headed to the disused Crimond Airfield, which was built in early 1944.  I felt Sarah's beauty and John's awesome beard fitted well with the urban look, cool stone walls, and gave a good contrast to the rubble and ruggedness around. These guys were well up for it, so with a brolly in hand we set off on a little adventure. After roaming around, dodging the cow pats (hats off to you Sarah in those heels and white dress!) we finished off the shoot with some final fun and let off some smoke grenades.

Please note Sarah's dress was not harmed whilst capturing these photos!

Jodie & Rob \\ Tufted Duck The Tufted Duck is another venue I haven't ventured north to in a while, and then I had two weekend trips in a row, starting with Jodie and Rob's big day.

Everyone was asked to stand by the registrar as Jodie entered the ceremony room, everyone except one gentleman did. This man was hiding from the fact he had flown all the way from America to surprise his niece on her wedding day. Only after Jodie and Rob tied the knot and headed for the drinks reception did this extremely friendly and happy man make himself known to the couple. He was welcomed with open arms and you can see a shot of the reactions below.

Grey clouds loomed but we made it, just, and it only started to drizzle as we made our way back to the hotel after a stroll, or should I say skip, with the newly weds down to the beach. I didn't ask Jodie and Rob to skip, they just felt the need to, and I loved the spontaneity of these two lovebirds!

Rosie and Ross, Jodie and Rob's two children, played a big part in the wedding, along with many other children who were invited along to join in the fun, and I hope these photos help them remember this day when they are older.

Alannda & Scott \\ DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops It was a pleasure to be back at the Treetops for Alannda and Scott's wedding day, it has been a while and I was not disappointed. The rooms were beautifully dressed by Ruffle & Rose and we were entertained with a 'laugh-a-minute' ceremony by Neil Mellis. This stunning couple were surrounded by over 100 family and friends including Alannda's FIVE sisters! It was heart warming to see such a big loving family.

We headed over to Johnston Gardens to get some fun and romantic couple shots and we were approached by two adorable little girls. One girl's wee face was full of amazement and she said out loud, "wow, it's a princess"! Her mum then told us they were not long back from Disney so was in love with all things princess and she agreed it was ok for her to have her photo taken by us. I think this little girl summed Alannda up perfectly and it was very apparent she has definitely met her Prince Charming.

Claire & Greg \\ Maryculter House Hotel Much like today, the weather at Maryculter House Hotel was glorious for Claire and Greg's big day. The courtyard was set up beautifully for an outdoor ceremony which is something of a rarity in the North East.

Sadly the weather off the coast was not so kind which resulted in Claire's brother being stuck offshore due to fog.  Thanks to the wonder of technology he was able to skive off his shift and Facetime his girlfriend so he didn't miss out on all of the action and seeing how beautiful his little sister looked - dad's reaction summed up perfectly how stunning she was.

As for Greg and his gaggle of groomsmen, they scrubbed up well as this say. This included his brother who was best man - there was clearly a lot of man love going on between them and a spontaneous go at an old secret hand shake during the speeches showed how close these guys really are.

Sarah & Steve \\ Gleneagles Hotel A road trip to the beautiful Auchterarder was an absolute treat to start one of my weekends last month. It has been a number of years since I have had the pleasure of being at the Gleneagles Hotel but it was as stunning as I remembered it to be.

Despite Sarah's demanding and fast-paced job taking up a lot of her time she was super organised. With flights to London to choose, collect and have her dress altered she had to be!

Our groom Steve was so laid back he even managed a round of golf, a few pints and some chips with the boys before deciding it was time to get his kilt on!

And these guys knew how to party! Drinks, dancing and a real shindig into the small hours were on the cards for this lovely pair and their huge circle of friends, who clearly meant so much to them.

Laura & Stuart \\ Banchory Lodge It was a cloudy and very breezy day in Deeside for Laura and Stuart but this did not dampen their enthusiasm one bit. This laid-back pair laughed every minute, whether this was at the little in jokes between family members or at the wind catching Laura’s veil time-after-time. At one point during the couples’ shoot on the banks of Banchory Lodge Laura decided to ditch her shoes and go barefoot on the rocks so we could get closer to the water, what a girl!

Can I just take a moment to mention the cake…what a beauty! Simple but with the most intricate detailing, hats off to you Gumblossom Cakes for this stunning work of art.

From Floor To Woof With Ruffle & Rose Events \\ Maryculter House Hotel Loved this shoot with Ruffle & Rose Events at Maryculter House Hotel! The newly refurbished ballroom looked even more beautiful and our bridal party models were the cutest, don't you think?

Flower walls, blossom trees, candles, lanterns, chiavari chairs and sashes - Ruffle & Rose had gone to town to show brides and grooms to be what you can do you decorate and light any wedding day venue.

Carol & Fred \\ Norwood Hall Hotel These guys were smitten! I didn't have to ask them to kiss once to get 'that shot' during the afternoon.

Carol and Fred really made me smile and the whole day at Norwood Hall Hotel was full of laughs, tears and signs of a loving and ever growing family, including the bride and groom having four children and four grandchildren between them.

Their Spring theme was, what they described, a way of signifying 'new beginnings' and boy did the ballroom look amazing! Blossom trees, Easter eggs and bunnies galore thanks to Without A Hitch...not to mention possibly THE best sweetie table I have ever seen!

Neil Mellis conducted a fantastic ceremony as always and it came to light that he was in on a little secret with the groom. Fred admitted to Neil that he may not be around as long as the average newlywed so he decided to 'interrupt the ceremony' after the rings had been given and received with a surprise third ring - he didn't want to wait 25 years to give Carol an Eternity ring. Who said romance was dead?

Say Yes To The Dress - Midnight Elegance Shoot This gem of a boutique is located just round the corner from my studio and when Kathy approached me a little while back to ask if I would be interested in doing a shoot for her I agreed to pop round for a visit. I was so surprised to find this small shop front is no comparison to the huge collection of stunning bridal, prom and evening wear, along with shoes, jewellery, veils, headpieces and belts. The shop is contemporary, bright and beautifully girlie - I was keen to get some shots of Midnight Elegance to help show this place off.

I had a great afternoon with Kathy, her staff and the models but the star of the shoot was the gorgeous flower girl who I think would have been happy to pose all day!

Emily & Andrew Emily, her family and their beautiful black Labrador, Ella, came to visit me at The Studio last September for a family portrait after getting word that their furry friend was sadly ill. Despite the attention being on Ella that day and I was concentrating on getting some lovely shots of her,  my senses turned to the spark between Emily and her boyfriend Andrew, who also came along. These guys instantly seemed like they were a perfect match and obviously smitten! It was no surprise to me when Emily got in touch to say Andrew had popped the question and I was delighted to be in on the secret proposal. This called for another photoshoot, with Ella too, so that they could announce their engagement to the world earlier today - congratulations to you both!

Diane & David \\ Pittodrie House Hotel I first met Diane, David and their beautiful boys back in 2015 when they came to the studio for a family portrait session. When they told me they were engaged and decided it was time for Diane to have the same surname as the men in her life, I couldn't have been happier when they asked me to be a part of their day.

Over the last three years of knowing this family I have never seen them without a smile on their faces, the boys always full of stories, pleases and thank yous, so joining them at Pittodrie House Hotel was an absolute pleasure for me.

Laura & Ross \\ Meldrum House Hotel Boy it was a chilly one at Meldrum House Hotel for Laura and Ross but there was no stopping this lovely pair, or their equally lovely family and friends, heading outside to the gorgeous grounds for us.  Even after dinner they were keen to wander into the darkness so we could light them up for some night time shots.

We were treated to a visit in the afternoon from Laura's family dog, the beautiful Barley, who I had the pleasure of photographing in the studio as a much smaller puppy...not that long ago!

Music Monday I remember Emma saying to me that she would love some fun photos with her maids...throw back to when Myke Black acquired some backing dancers (and singers) at Logie Country House.

If you are struggling for some motivation this Monday then get some music on, turn the radio up and say hello to a new week!

A strong husband and wife team built of muscle and love

I was introduced to Stuart through The Fitness Guy, Steve Bradley, as he and his wife Caroline were keen to have a fitness style photo session ahead of a body building competition they had been training for.

On the night of the shoot I was instantly impressed at both Stuart and Caroline's physiques before hearing how much effort and training they had put in.

Although Stuart had competed before a number of years ago, neither of them had done a photo shoot like this. They were both naturals, came up with some great ideas for shots and displayed many confident poses.

What I really liked about this husband and wife team is the support and encouragement they showed for each other during the shoot. I love that they had a shared goal to compete together and at our session they continually provided pointers and feedback as to how each other were doing.

I thought there is no better way for you to find out more about Team Jarret than to hear from Caroline herself in a Q&A session:

Tell me a little about the competition you have just taken part in?

The competition we entered was the UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Scottish qualifiers, Stuart entered Masters physique and I entered Masters Bikini.

Who's idea was it to enter and where did the inspiration come from?

It was Stuart's idea to enter. He wanted to take part in another competition after doing one five years ago and encouraged me to do it with him.

How long had you been training to get in shape?

We had both been training for a long time. Stuart primarily lifts weights and does one cardio session a week. I have trained for years too but a mix of cardio (mostly running, swimming, cycling and classes) and then moved towards more weight training when I met him. I then slowly decreased my cardio workouts until I was just doing one session a week too.

How often did you hit the gym?

We both went to the gym five times a week for about an hour each time.

What did your diet consist of?

Our diet was balanced, made up from lean meats, fish and eggs. Stuart eats veg but I don't. We eat a little fruit and dairy, mostly 'clean eating'.

Were there are any foods/drinks you really missed?

I gave up alcohol and sweets during prep which I did miss. Stuart's diet didn't change much. We didn't really eat 'junk' food before prep, like pizzas, pies, doughnuts etc, so our diet pretty much stayed the same. We used to enjoy the occasional Krispy Creme and brunch on a Sunday which we did without over the 16 week prep.

What was the result of the competition?

Stuart placed first in his category. Unfortunately for me the feedback I got was I was too lean for the class I entered. It's hard to figure out for girls which category suits them best and we knew I would probably be too lean to place. I still did the competition for the experience and it was our goal for us both to compete at the same show.

Are you going to keep the training and clean eating up?

Our lifestyles won't change now that the competition is over. We both enjoy the gym so we'll still be training as usual. We won't be as strict with our diet though, we've a few nights out arranged but we'll gradually increase our calories over time to get back to the levels we were at pre-prep.

What's next for you both?

I am unsure of what's next for Stuart, he isn't sure whether he wants to compete again. I'm aiming to increase my size and enter a competition/class more suited to my build, although this will depend on how I get on with increasing my muscle mass, and it would probably be a competition next year.

The Generations I have photographed a couple of family weddings over the years and had a few come visit me in the studio, yet I always find them to be the most nerve wracking shoots of all. I guess it's the pressure of having so many familiar faces looking at you through a lens, wanting to make them proud and, although I cry at most weddings, when the bride or groom are your blood, there is the added pressure of capturing the moment as well as trying to enjoy and treasure it, whilst happy tears fill your eyes.

When my Auntie asked me to photograph a session involving four generations of my family I knew this was going to be something special but emotional. The group included my Granny, Auntie, Cousin and her youngest child, who amongst them have a combined age of 185 years. On my Dad's side of the family this is the only all female link to each of the four generations.

Since my Granda passed away in 2014 my Granny's health has slowly deteriorated and her dementia sending her on a rollercoaster of good days and not so good days. Having the ability to photograph this rare family link was going to make for some really special memories but the pressure was building inside of me.

I packed my car with more gear than I usually take, or could possibly need, and headed to my Granny's house in Insch on a very rainy Monday morning to meet with the rest of my family. I was nervous to find out if Granny would be well enough to sit for a period of time out of her comfortable, mobility chair and if the youngest, being only two, would have any smiles for me.

All seemed fine at the house when I arrived and Granny was looking well with her hair newly permed. I carefully rearranged the living room so as not to agitate Granny, lights sets up and background hung. I was ready to take a test shot, my palms were sweating and mind racing trying to consider the right camera settings for my new surroundings.

We were good to go and then looking down the viewfinder at these four beautiful females my heart burst with emotion. Proud that these people trusted me to capture this monumental moment in our lifetime, sad that these generations can't last forever but so happy and thankful that this is my family and I have been able to witness the years of love each person has had for one another. I now had to get my head down and work hard so that my images would let my friends and followers experience a little bit of all these emotions and that more importantly my family would love my photographs that hopefully capture the four personalities and love between them.

Back in my office I post produced the images with a very warm heart and a smile on my face. I am delighted to open my heart and my computer and share some of these very special and personal images with you. This is my family, a group of people, each a unique masterpiece, sharing love, hugs and support, one of life's greatest blessings.
